John Michael T/A/Lieutenant Mentioned in Dispatches twice. Lt. Cdr Michael (JM) Peacock enlisted with the Royal Navy at the outbreak of the war and served with COPP 8 in England, Scotland, Ceylon, India and Burma, where he was captured b.y Japanese soldiers after being separated from his party and left behind on an island beach.

His family thought he had died but he was liberated from Rangoon jail by a battalion of the East Yorks regiment and eventually regained enough health to return home. After the war he qualified as a veterinary surgeon and built up a successful and well-respected practice in his home town Bedford, as well as service in the RNVR. He retired to rural Warwickshire and, with his wife Sheila, was a regular attender at COPP re-unions. Michael died 17 June 2012, a day before his 90th birthday.
